Safe transport and more flexibility with interior conversion

Delivery vehicles with a removable exterior rack and roof rack save time, simplify load securing and ensure that the load is transported properly and professionally – irrespective of whether it is conventional glass or bulky and oversized elements.

But with additional equipment, delivery vehicles can be adapted even more precisely to individual requirements, thus offering extended functionality. “If you want to maximise your handling options, you should seek advice on the options for vehicle conversion tailored to your personal requirements,” said Hans-Peter Löhner, Managing Director of HEGLA Fahrzeugbau. “When it comes to interior conversions in particular, the daily requirements must be clarified in order to determine how to attain maximum flexibility and easy handling.”

Market leader HEGLA divides interior conversion into two basic types: interior racks and horizontal interior supports. They can be used individually or in combination. With a padded bearing surface, interior racks are particularly suitable for transporting panes or IG units. They protect against damage and add the required stability to individual panes or insulated glass units that are not completely hardened. Straps and slat bars are used for the user-friendly fixing of the load. Additional lashing rails recessed in the rack make securing for transport more flexible. “It almost always pays to add the two-piece folding horizontal support when selecting an interior rack,” Hans-Peter Löhner recommended. “If several structural elements and glass types are to be delivered at the same time, the support can be divided or folded up completely and almost the entire width of the vehicle can be used.”

If required, hole patterns can be installed in the floor and ceiling of the vehicle across its entire width. This makes it possible to place the load against the vertical support of the interior rack, with the support folded down, and secure it with padded slat bars over the transporter’s entire internal width.

Special protection from the elements

The use of a pull-out interior rack is ergonomic and provides special protection from the elements. Sensitive or unwieldy goods find their ideal transport position on such racks. Loading is user-friendly: Without having to enter the loading area, drivers can load the rack at a height that is easy on the back, secure the load, and smoothly return it to the rear of the vehicle.

The HEGLA managing director always recommends horizontal interior supports for delivery vehicles that are mainly used for transporting doors, windows or large formats. The goods can be placed directly on the floor or on a protective mat and then secured with lashing straps to the two standard lashing rails. In comparison to interior racks, they have the advantage of maximising loading height and loading width, and optimising acquisition costs.

A tool cabinet system can be installed as the perfect complement to interior racks or horizontal interior supports. “A tidy delivery vehicle not only makes a good, professional impression on customers; it also saves a lot of time when looking for the right tools and assembly accessories,” emphasised Löhner.

“The highly variable options mean that there are practically no limits when it comes to building or converting a transporter. With our many years of experience in the sector, we have created almost every conceivable vehicle for transporting glass, windows, and structural elements,” said HEGLA Fahrzeugbau’s managing director.
