Fully automated ES-Guard S laser marking for glass cutting

The ES-Guard S is the perfect solutions for the fully automated laser marking of coated, uncoated and functional glass directly on the cutting line or on a separate cutting system. After it has been marked, the glass is uniquely identifiable and can be identified and tracked at every step in the production process through manual or automated scanning. Depending on the production process, the laser marking can also be applied during another processing step, for example on an edging system.

Machine-readable laser marking without risk of confusion

Glass panes are marked directly on the cutting table using the patented UniColor laser transfer technology. The automatically generated markings, with a QR or data matrix code and freely selectable characters and numbers, prevent confusion among the panes and enable the systematic application of information, such as identification numbers, production specifications or quality inspection data. With corresponding data integration of the glass ID, this can be used to measure production progress, for example, and enables direct reference to production data, ERP and MES, and even access via the HEGLA app.

Features

  • Laser system for the product identification of glass surfaces, insulation glass units (artificial and ceramic)
  • The marking has high resistance to mechanical, chemical and thermal loads (up to Tg) and UV radiation
  • No negative effect on glass stability or resulting stress factors or cracks
  • Automated, non-destructible marking with e.g., machine-readable codes (e.g., data matrix and QR codes), logos, and product IDs
  • Reliable machine-readability (stationary scanner/hand scanner/app/mobile devices)
  • Direct link to product data, ERP and MES with relevant data integration or use of the HEGLA app for full quality control, combined with the stored QM and production data
  • Marking with specific data (unique to each pane), for example product tracking via product ID
  • For example, store the planned installation position or required storage location at the construction site in the marking
  • Manual screen printing no longer required before the toughening process
  • Enhanced safety you can see thanks to test marking: Change of colour in toughened glass process

Functional description

Laser marking can be integrated in any processing step. The marking can be automatically applied directly to the glass via laser before cutting, excluding any possibility of confusing or mixing up the panes. The durable, material-friendly marking is applied to the glass in a wafer-thin laser transfer printing process using transfer tape. It does not affect the quality or material properties of the end product.

The marking can be positioned in the visible or invisible areas of a glass product. Depending on the transfer tape, it can be applied in different colours with a striking aesthetic effect. Accompanied by a logo, it can also be used for branding or marking toughened glass.
